Ahh Leviticus. I can't say that I'll be sad to leave it tomorrow...
S: “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy. (Leviticus 19:2 NIV84)
O: All of these rules and regulations seem overwhelming, but they were all designed to keep the people clean so they could maintain fellowship with God. Though I don't understand the "why's" of the rules, God gave them the over-arching goal to remain holy because He is Holy. This is true today, even though, through Christ we do not have all the regulations to follow to stay clean. God wants us to remain Holy so he can be in constant fellowship with us.
A: I know that I am cleansed through my salvation in Christ, and that salvation gives me holiness, but am I seeking holiness through my actions and attitude? Or am I only relying on my salvation for holiness? My actions and attitude are not what saves me, I can never be good enough, but am I seeking to reflect God's holy character? I don't think that I am. My job is to reflect God's character for others to see, therefore I should be striving for holiness in my actions and attitude because He is holy.
P: Holy Father, please guide my actions, thoughts, and attitude to me more like yours. Remind me that everyone I meet is one of your precious creations, that my children are simply under my charge temporarily, and I am to model Christ's servant-attitude for my husband. I am seeking holiness God, so that I can reflect your character to everyone I meet. Amen.
Riley is all caught up on her reading. I don't know how much she understands in Leviticus, but she isn't complaining, she's actually enjoying reading along with me.
