B90D: Day 13 - Numbers 32:20- Deuteronomy 7:26

I love this section of Deuteronomy. Wrapping up all the commands and decrees into a big "I say all this because I love you" package.

S: Walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. (Deuteronomy 5:33 NIV84)

O: There are so many great scriptures in today's reading, but this one spoke to me the most. It is talking about obedience and blessings again. Do what God has commanded so that He can bless you. Seems pretty straight forward, but I think we try to complicate thing too much.

A: I'm getting a very clear theme as I'm reading the Bible in 90 days. Obedience precedes blessings. God gives us laws to keep us holy, and he asks us to follow them so He can bless us. He wants to bless us, all we have to do is remain obedient. Instead I think we try to say "oh it's just not in God's will" or "this must not be the right path for me". Bull! Are you following in obedience? If you are, then you can look at reasons these things aren't happening, but most of the time, we are not following in obedience, and yet we expect God to pour on the blessings. I'm guilty of this, I worry and wonder about when our finances will balance, but then I get a very clear word from God about being content. And I don't want to hear that, I want to keep wanting more. But God will bless my contentment, and He will continue to provide for us.

P: Gracious, jealous God, oh how I wish that I could come to you and say that I understand and follow this command, but I can't because i don't. I've always asked for a billboard when it comes to following your will and I thank you for that. Please keep molding my heart into one of thankful obedience, removing the greedy, un-content parts. Thanks for putting up with me, even when I follow other things. Amen.
