S: The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14 NIV84)
The Lord is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
my father's God, and I will exalt him. (Exodus 15:2 NIV84)
“In your unfailing love you will lead
the people you have redeemed.
In your strength you will guide them
to your holy dwelling. (Exodus 15:13 NIV84)
O: I know there are three verses but I think they all relate. They all show the grace and favor God gives to His people. God takes care of us and we should always remember to praise him, especially during the good times. These verses are such a great prayer of praise!
A: Oh, there's so much to say! The first verse, I really need to work on. I pray for Gods guidance, deliverance, help but then I try to fight my own battles. I really need to remember that God will fight for me, if I will only be still and let him. I don't think this is implying that I do nothing, the Israelites had to walk out onto the seabed to escape, but God did all the planning and heavy lifting for them.
The last two verses are simply an amazing example of praising God and I love reading them. I love reading this sweet song and remembering that I need to praise God through all the good and bad times in my life. The Israelites let God show them His power and they were amazed, even if just before they had forgotten the mighty works God had showed them in Egypt. I think sometimes we all forget that God only wants to move our lives forward, and trials are simply a time for God to show us his grace, favor and power. I laugh at how forgetful the Israelites were, but how much more quickly I forget Gods provision for me!
P: Awesome God, how mighty you are!! I am in awe of your power and how you place your favor on me, even when I forget your grace. I praise you for the provision in my life, especially since I don't deserve it. Thank you for your eternal grace. Please continue to guide me and help me through my life, and remind me to be still and allow you to fight my battles. In your Son's name, Amen.
Riley is still reading her sections. She read Genesis 40 yesterday and she's going to read Exodus 2 today.
