B90D: Day 6 - Exodus 15:19-28:43

I wasn't on the computer much this weekend, but I did my reading, so I'm posting my soaps now.

S: Moses' father-in-law replied, “What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone. (Exodus 18:17-18 NIV84)

O: Moses was doing "good" things but his father-in-law could see that he was responsible for too much of the Israelites care. Delegation was necessary so Moses could continue to be an effective leader.

A: I think sometimes I feel obligated to do "good" things, but those aren't necessarily the best things for me. I need to allow others who are competent to take over and do those things as well. I think this applies to my parenting and also my role in the church. I know where I am called to serve, and other things aren't "bad" just not my area. I could probably even delegate some things in my marriage. Instead of feeling guilty for not making my husband homemade bread all the time, I can delegate that task to Sara Lee without guilt, knowing my time and avoiding burnout is more important than homemade bread. I was not designed to be an island and to accomplish everything on my own, I have to ask for and accept help from others.

P: God, I know you have given me talents and gifts to use for my husband, my family, and others. Help me to discern where to wisely spend my time, talent, and resources to best utilize the gifts you have given me. Amen.

Riley needs to catch up from the weekend. We ran all weekend long, and although I can read in the car, she can't read something as difficult as the Bible on the move.
