More adventures of King David. And why a head of hair that is envied isn't always a good thing while riding on mules...
S: He said:
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation.
He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—
from violent men you save me. (2 Samuel 22:2, 3 NIV84)
O: God is my rock and deliverer. He will deliver us from our enemies, illnesses, and situations. Now, in reading the stories of David, you can see that it's not always as they had planned but God always delivered David from those who oppose him.
A: I need to lean more in God as my deliverer, my fortress. I have always loved the imagery of a fortress. I can sit inside and lean on God's foundation, His walls, while He fights my battles for me and protects me from evil. But I have to make the choice to go inside. I have to make the choice to give up my battles and let God be my general. And that is the hardest part.
P: Powerful, Almighty God, thank you for your protection in my times of need. Thank you for delivering from my foes, for protecting me and delivering me from situations that I couldn't handle on my own. Thank you for providing me with comfort and protection during those times. I will lean in you in my times of trouble and let you fight my battles in your almighty wisdom. Amen.
