The beginning of David's reign over Judah, then Israel.
S: Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, O Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever.” (2 Samuel 7:29 NIV84)
O: David wasn't afraid to ask for the blessings of God. He recognized the blessings he had received, but asked for God's continued favor on his house.
A: I ask God for things, for rain, for protection, but do I ever thank God for His blessings and just ask for continued favor? I feel like this is selfish, but why shouldn't I ask for God's favor in my family? It's not selfish, it's acknowledging God's power and that He is the source for our blessings, and simply asking and acknowledging Him.
P: Gracious God, be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue; for you O Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever. Amen.
