Last week, I went up to Tulsa on Thursday night and Friday to take my friend Ashley's two youngest out for the day to give her a break. She is pregnant with #5 (!!!) and had two doctor's appointments on Friday, so I offered to take her little girls, aged 4 and 2. I found this little Children's Museum in downtown Tulsa. It didn't look like a huge deal, but a cute little place to let the girls run around. As it happened, the news station ran a story about the museum Friday morning. The oldest two were bummed that they couldn't go too! The place was SO cool. If you are ever in Tulsa, be sure to stop by the Kaleidoscope Children's Museum at 61st and Sheridan. It had a Market Place with kid-sized buildings of a cafe, grocery store (with the nice small metal carts and TONS of food, and a real scanner), Dr/Vet/Dentist office, Salon (with real salon chairs and mannequin heads to practice on), and a Postal office with post office boxes, scales and "envelopes" to mail. They had a deli so you can eat there, and the prices seemed reasonable. It wasn't open on Friday, so I can't vouch for the food, but it's hard to mess up pizza and chicken strips. They had a huge play tube area, and a kids rock-climbing wall too. They also had a two story house, with little kid-sized furniture, brooms, irons, and a fireplace. The upstairs had a little make-up area (with no makeup, thankfully). They had a HUGE stage, complete with costumes and a working mic. The girls ALL loved it. They sang their little hearts out. They also had a craft room with paints, crayons, clay, etc. They had a little jail and a Crime Lab and a blacklight room too! You could stay all day and the kids would never get bored. I loved it because I didn't have to do anything other than keep the girls in the same room, and take plenty of pictures. They offer monthly unlimited memberships, and I think the next time I'm going to be up there more than once a month, we'll get one and go a few times. R just loved it. It was a huge hit! It was worth every penny.
