Garden Update

Well, it has been a busy few days at the Packard Family Farms. We have now planted:
  • tomatoes
  • peppers (that look so silly because I planted plastic milk jugs next to them for continual watering)
  • eggplant
  • 3 varieties of squash (because I plan on feeding the entire US military...)
  • zucchini
  • okra
  • cucumber
  • canteloupe
  • honey dew
  • pole beans (that are PURPLE!)
  • bush beans
That is added to the onions, potatoes, radishes and peas that are already planted. All that's left to plant is corn, watermelon, winter squash, and 2 varieties of pumpkin. We're almost done! And if the weather will cooperate tomorrow, we should get it all in! Now, hopefully everything will live and grow, but I'll be happy that the beds are in.
A friend of ours has a farm in Stratford, OK and she has peaches and lots of produce and free-range eggs that she sells. After talking with her about my 18-dozen-eggs-a-week dilema, she offered to supply me with cool season crops for a small farmer's market until my veggies and eggs come in. So, on Friday, R and I did a small farmer's market in downtown OKC and we both had a blast. I can't wait to sell my own stuff! I have a month or two for that, but it is exciting! I'll have to get pictures of us next week. R has her own play money cash register that she plays with while I deal with the real money. She loves all the people that come to say hi to her and she always asks, "Who is that mommy?" Ha!
Anyways, a long day the last two days, and tomorrow is Mother's Day, so I hope all you moms out there have a relaxing day with angelic children and perfectly clean house, with meals already prepared. I know it's a long shot, but here's hopin'!
