Seeds!

Well, the count for sprouted seeds is:
About 2/3 of the tomatoes are sprouting
2/3 of the eggplant
90% of the peppers
All of the broccoli
90% of the onions
(all of those were planted mid February)
Of the more recent plantings (like this past week recent):
Lettuce is starting to sprout
Peas and beans are starting to sprout
Still yet to emerge:
A few varieties of lettuce and herbs
Cucumbers
All Squash and Zucchini

Woohoo!  So far, my dining room is green!  There's still plenty I have to be patient for, but everything looks very healthy and happy with their temporary living conditions.  I only have one grow light right now, so it's over the biggest sprouts, and the shelving unit is sitting in front of a south-facing window in my dining room.  We are actually considering moving the entire table, with both leaves, in front of the window to spread out the trays a little, and make room for the rest of the seeds yet to be planted (amazingly enough, I have 8 trays full of seeds and I'm still not done!), but we'll just have to see as they are rotated in and out.  Broccoli will go outside this next week, when the chickens are done harvesting all the weed seeds and bugs out of the garden.  Lettuce will go out as it is ready, as will peas and potatoes.  Once those are outside, I should have room for the later season veggies like winter squash and pumpkins.

Farming is a constant process.  Constant, ever-changing, dust-to-dust process.
