Graduation

Just realized that I'll be purchasing R's next year of curriculum in a month.  In 10 weeks R will officially graduate from Kindergarten.  Where did the time go?

For those in the blogosphere that actually care about our homeschooling endeavor, here's what's slated for R's 1st grade year:
Bible, History, Geography, Reading - Sonlight Core 1(follow link on the left sidebar)
Phonics - Reading Horizons Unit 2
Math - Saxon 1
Science - Sonlight Science K
Handwriting - Petersen Handwriting - Print

We're taking on a lot more this year than we have for Kindergarten, so it'll be another year of adjustment, but I'm excited for us.  I'm hoping to fall into more of a rhythm and have more time to do more 'fun' stuff.
It's so weird to think about school already, but we're going to take the 'year-round' schedule approach:
May-July with 1 week off in June
August off
September-November with 1 week off in October
December off
January-March with 1 week off in February
April off

This coincides with our farming schedule better, giving us time off to plant, harvest and preserve, and time off for holidays.  Also, doing school during the hot summer months gives R something to do when it's too hot outside to play.  We did this during the summer last year and it worked out very well - R would go outside for a little bit in the mornings, then come inside during the day.

I just can't believe my 'baby' girl is going to be in 1st grade.  :)
