I recently found a preschool homeschool curriculum that I really like and last week was our first week into it. R learned about the letter "L" and the number "18." She also learned her memory verse - "God loves a cheerful giver" 2 Corinthians 9:7b and we talked about giving to others who need it. We read the story of the Good Samaritan and we are going to the store this week so R can pick out some toys, to buy with her money, to send in a shoebox through Samaritan's Purse's "Operation Christmas Child." She is very excited to pick out toys for another little girl about her age. She wants to get the little girl a doll, and send her a picture of herself with her doll, Haley. We'll also send some socks, maybe some flip-flops or slippers, candy, crayons, etc. She's buying it (although mommy will buy back items that don't fit into the box) and I'm hoping it will foster her desire to give to others who don't have anything.
She also learned my phone number for in case of an emergency and learned how to dial the phone. That was probably her favorite thing she learned about this week! She practiced dialing the phone by calling Daddy, Grandpa, and Nana.
We also practiced sorting by shape, and the practical application of this was adding a new chore to her (very short) list: putting away the silverware from the dishwasher. She's gotten very good at it and loves to help Mommy in the kitchen.
Here are some pictures of a few of the things we did:
