Allergy/ Asthma Update and Farm Life Update

So, I went to the Oklahoma Asthma Allergy Clinic yesterday to do the dreaded allergy testing. I got about 40 shots, and tested positive for way more things than I thought I would. I am very allergic to dust mites, and you know what that means? New wood floors! Haha! I knew I could get those new floors somehow! We probably won't be getting them for a while (remember that new tractor?), but it did move closer to the top of the list. I'm also allergic to a lot of grass, weed, and tree pollen, but not really mold. He explained that most people think they're allergic to mold spores, but they really have a reaction similar to slicing an onion, they are just sensitive to the chemicals they give off. AND, I'm pretty allergic to soy and peanuts! Who knew?!?! I guess it's a good thing we're going more self-sustaining, but there isn't much out there that doesn't contain soy and/or peanuts. But, I start allergy shots on Monday and Daddy and R will have their appointments in a few weeks. The doctor said that I could possibly prevent her getting asthma by starting her on shots. I'm super excited about all of it. It's so much better knowing what I'm dealing with than just guessing! My dear MOPS friend, Paula, told me to definately go to an allergy clinic for allergy related stuff because allergies are SO complicated. General practioners really don't have a true understanding of how all that stuff works. Thanks Paula!
In other news, I made my first homemade bread loaf yesterday in my new breadmaker. Oh my goodness. You just haven't tasted bread until you've made it at home. I made wheat bread and it is so dense and yummy, I just can't even describe it. This bread is so springy ( and non-store-like) that you could set a carton of eggs on top and it would bounce back. Yum! Anyways, I also made homemade yogurt in my crockpot on Tuesday and I also made homemade jam (in said breadmaker). Daddy is pretty sure he's died and gone to heaven. I'm telling you, there is just nothing like homemade, with normal ingredients. Anyways, it's just a taste of what's to come!
This weekend, Daddy and I are going to start building our chicken coop. We had originally decided that we didn't really want to build a coop, but with 35 chickens, it's kinda necessary. And, they are getting BIG and will need a bigger area to run around in soon, so we are going to convert part of our horse stable into a chicken coop. Lots and lots of projects! Hopefully we don't get so much rain that we can't work on it! Pictures to follow... Hope you all are having a great Friday and have a great weekend!
