A Letter to my First-Born

Dear R,

Sweet, Princess R.  You are our prize.  You were the first, our first giant leap into parenthood.  You have borne all of our mistakes with grace and forgiveness and we are so proud to have you for a daughter.

Things are changing, sweetpea.  You are growing up!  You will be SIX in a couple of months.  I'm just not really sure where the time went.  You were a sweet baby in my arms, but then in the blink of an eye, you were an adorable, babbling toddler, then an eager preschooler, now a 2nd grader!  What happened?!  You have really grown up this year.  You are doing 'big kid' things like starting your own business.  You love to play with your little brother.  You want to learn to sew like Mommy.  You are on the gymnastics team.  All these things, I am just amazed at.

God has such big plans for you!  I can see him working in your life.  I can see the wonder in your eyes when we have Bible class in school.  The day you accepted Jesus in your heart was one of the happiest, proudest moments of my life.  Because, when it comes right down to it, nothing else matters but following God.  And He is going to take you places and you are going to do mighty things for Him!  I can't wait to watch you change your world!

As we bring another baby home, you will have more responsibilities, but also more freedoms.  And just like with B, we will be busy, but we will never, ever, ever forget about you or love you less.

You, sweet princess, are our treasure.  You are the one that God used to help us become Godly parents.  You will always hold such a special place in our hearts because you were the first!  I can't wait to see what God has in store for you, because I know your faith will move mountains.

I love you R.  Right up to the the moon.... and back.

Love,
Mom
