So, today was an eventful day. We'll start from the beginning:
Daddy and R got up and put on work shoes and went outside to feed the goats. I promised to get up and make breakfast soon, but I wasn't really feeling well, so I grabbed a little breakfast for myself to get my stomach in the mood to make breakfast for my family. As I am in the middle of my breakfast, R barges into the house, screaming, "Mama, Mama! Tianna's having her babies!!!" So of course, I race outside, run around to the goat pen where Daddy was waiting with Tianna whose water had broken. I stay with Tianna while Daddy finished the morning feedings. She was very confused and couldn't quite figure out what was going on. Daddy and R went inside to eat a snack for a make-shift breakfast. After watching her for a while, we decided that R and I needed to go inside and make breakfast, and we'd take turns eating while we waited for Tianna to give birth. I started french toast and had just finished the first batch when Daddy called and said Tianna was pushing. So I got R's breakfast started and I raced out (as fast as my hugely pregnant body would go) to the barn to assist Daddy and Tianna. Daddy was a pro, and he helped make the birth a little easier for the first-time mom. After 5-10 minutes of pushing, Tianna delivered a baby boy. He is gorgeous!
Daddy started to stand up to help me 'bounce' Tianna. It's basically a method to check her belly for more babies. As he stood up, he immediately groaned in pain and fell back down. He claimed that he was going to pass out and I warned him that he better not! He sat down and I helped Tianna clean up her baby boy. He said that he was going to try to walk it off, he thought he had just twisted his knee funny. I stood up to get more paper towels for the baby, and Daddy collapsed. I said, "You just passed out, didn't you?" He opened his eyes halfway, smirked at me, and closed his eyes again. After 5-10 seconds, he woke up, and I was already on the phone trying to get ahold of a neighbor to come over and help me. Of course, no one was home, but thankfully Daddy was able to crawl back into a chair and sit. R had been stuck in the garage up until this point. Our rooster kept trying to get after her any time she tried to come back and see what was going on, so I went and got her and put her to work helping me clean up the trash. Tianna was doing a great job, but baby boy couldn't quite figure out what he was supposed to be eating, he kept trying to eat her collar, Daddy's boots, my pants, etc. After about 20 minutes, he finally figured out what he was supposed to be doing and got to work. Daddy and I got to work trying to figure out how we were going to get him inside, and what we were going to do from there. We finally decided (read: Daddy finally agreed) to go to the urgent care center to get his knee x-rayed. The hard part? Getting him inside. So, I went to get the tractor, and he sat on half the seat and I sat on the other half and I drove him to the door so he could hop inside, change into shorts, and hop back out to the car.
R and I quickly got ready, and loaded Daddy in the car to head to the urgent care center. Long story short, the Doctor is referring him to an orthopedic specialist, but is pretty sure he has torn (or severely injured) his meniscus. So, between the two of us, we're pretty limited. We did get to spend a little time together and enjoy the day, getting some lunch and ice cream after Daddy's appointment, then heading down to Norman to see my parents and step-brother as they helped him move into his new apartment.
Needless to say, I'm tired and very glad this day is over. I'm glad Tianna has become such a great mom, and that Daddy got crutches and a brace to keep his knee from hurting too much. I'm glad I can finally sit down and rest. Hopefully a good night's rest will do us all some good.
