Pardon the 'frank-ness' of this picture, but I wanted to show what I'm talking about. Tianna is 'bagging up' in preparation for her births. Her udder gets bigger daily and she waddles to accommodate. But, what I really wanted to talk about was the terminology. Tianna comes from an excellent milking line. We're expecting 1 1/2 gallons a day in a couple years. In the goat world, she has a "great bag." I don't know. This just seems odd to me. It's like saying a woman has a 'nice rack' or something like that. Yes, I understand she's a goat, but it just seems improper. But, I can't come up with a better name other than a "well-formed udder" which just doesn't jive with livestock people.
Maybe something will come to me, but for right now, I look at her, she looks at me, and we have an understanding. I waddle to accommodate my baby, she waddles to accommodate her udder. I have the extra weight of my 'udder' and she has the extra weight of her babies. For now, we are sisters in this circle of life, and I just want to make sure that she gets the same respect for her anatomy that I expect for mine.
I might just try telling another pregnant woman that she has a well-formed udder and see how it goes over...
