R's New Room

My little girl is officially grown up. Well almost. She's definitely not a baby anymore. R has officially moved up to a big girl bed. Twin size. Big enough for all three of us to squeeze in and snuggle with her. It's so sad that my little girl is growing up so fast!
Her "new" bed is a family heirloom. It was made for my dad when he was a kid, then it was mine, then my brother's, now R's! What a history. I found places inside the drawers that my brother and I had inscribed our names, for whatever reason. I'm so glad that she's inherited such a piece of history, memories. To Daddy, it was just a hunk of wood that a mattress sits on. To me, it was my first big girl bed, where I stored all my treasures. Where I hid my greatest treasures in the hidey hole. Where my brother and I hid our super spy gear. The bed got a face lift. We painted it white, added new pulls to the drawers and put the cutest bedding on it. Riley is enamored with it. I wasn't sure how she'd do with it, but she is doing great. Hasn't fallen yet. She looks so tiny in that big bed. I couldn't help myself today, I crawled into bed with her during her naptime (when she wasn't sleeping...) and we had a snuggle hug fest. How am I supposed to resist that?
We also got her some other new furniture, all used from Craigslist and garage sales. She has a new dresser and hutch and a new little night stand. She loves the drawers to store her treasures.
We still have more to do. I want to get her room painted and get it decorated for our little girl.
When we disassembled her crib/toddler bed, I remembered putting it together, just days before she was born. The end of an era.
Some pictures of her progression through the baby bed, and then pictures of her new big girl bed.

Putting the crib together.

R's first day home from the hospital. Look how TINY she is!

R when we converted her crib into a toddler bed at 18 months.

Look at how BIG that bed is! She just all grown up now!
