I know, you'd think that we'd be done by now with the new animals thing. But we just can't help ourselves! Our poor rooster has 14 hens to watch over and we wanted the chickens to have more company than they did. Plus we have 2 acres back there that needs to be kept up, and 15 chickens and 2 silly goats aren't going to do it! So my friend Natalie and I went today to get 20 more chickens. 20 chickens plus 3 kids under 4 is a LOT to handle.
Here are some pictures of the new chicks. Sorry none with the kids, they didn't get to play much with them as we made a much needed stop at Robertson's beef jerky place off I-40. Yum. Anyways, back to the chickens.
R's new Ariel. She didn't have any Ancona chicks, but had 1 poor little 3 week old Ancona. They're so ugly when they're molting. But when she's grown, she'll be really pretty.
Look at all those chicks. I must be crazy.
Natalie's chicks. 3 Austrolorps (including a male Arthur), 2 Welsummers, and 1 Buff
Aren't they pretty? the one on the left is a Red, in front is a Welsummer, and behind is a Americana. The Welsummers lay chocolate brown eggs. R thought she said chocolate eggs and tried to eat one of the eggs she had for hatching...
Our older chickens. Only 2 months old and look how big they are! The one on the bottom right is our "hip-py" girl, she's the biggest of the bunch!
As I don't have any compromising posts of children in the album, here is the link to the farm web album to see more pictures of our farm!
