Babies and Birthdays

Well, obviously life on the farm has been busy.  We ended up with 3 babies on Easter weekend.  Twizzler kidded early Friday morning - a baby boy - and rejected him.  We spent most of the day trying to get her to accept him as her baby, but it took about 4 days of working with both of them to get him to nurse on his own, and get her to let him nurse.  Silly goat.  He was very weak and small, which is probably why she wanted nothing to do with him.  We think it's because she ate a bunch of moldy hay the week before and got pretty sick.  Why she needed to eat moldy hay, we'll probably never know.  Goats are usually good about not eating stuff that isn't good for them, but Twizzler was determined to eat that stuff.  He's almost 4 weeks old now and both of them are doing very well.    Introducing Akin Acres Cadbury Cream

The next morning our 2nd time mama delivered her twins.  She had a very easy labor and graciously waited for Mr. P to come and check on her before pushing.  Quick easy delivery of two very healthy babies - a boy and a girl.  All three of them are doing very well and Tianna is giving about a half a gallon of milk a day right now.  That's a lot considering we only milk her once a day (she'd give close to a gallon if we milked her twice a day).

So then we had Easter and a week later it was the boys' birthdays!  Mr. P and B share a birthday and to celebrate we had a garage sale!  I know, doesn't sound like much of a celebration, but trust me, making money and getting rid of junk is a big plus for Mr. P.  R set up a little snack stand and helped me make brownies and cookies and she also sold lemonade, water and candy.  She made over $15!  I was really impressed.  She had a lot of fun and enjoyed watching the economic process at work.

We had B's 1st birthday party last Saturday and we had a great turnout.

My baby boy is 1!  He's talking - he says Uh-Oh, Bite, Daddy, Quack.  He is such a happy boy.  We are so blessed to have him in our life.  He challenges us and blesses us every single day.  Thank you God for letting me be his mommy!
