How do I start.....? Farming Part 3

I knew I'd think of something else...  :)

4.  Figure out your system.  If you are gathering eggs and feeding chickens, or milking, or whatever, figure out your system and then try to make it as efficient as possible.  You will enjoy farming much more of your 'chores' don't take you for-ever in the morning and evening.
Examples from our farm:
Our chicken coop is located on the opposite corner of the pasture from the house.  There is no electricity out there unless we run extension cords, and chickens need electricity often enough that it's an issue.  The coop door has to be opened and closed every evening, the chickens must be fed (well, for our chickens) once a day and their water must be refilled.  What a pain to have to do ALL of this with so much walking back and forth (we also don't have water out there).  So, we are building a chicken coop, close to the garage, close to electricity, with an automatic door (light sensored).  We are even looking at an automatic feeder.  Now, it's not necessary, but Mr. P will enjoy the mornings much more when he isn't concerned about getting out by a certain time, or being home by a certain time to close the coop.  Water will be much more convenient since it's closer to the garage.
We are also going to build a goat tie-out eating area.  The goats will each have their own designated bucket and station so when we are not milking (approximately 4 months out of the year), we don't have to feed them individually like we currently do.

I guess the main point is figure out what has to be done and find ways to do it efficiently for your own sake :)
