Have you heard the Rend Collective song, "Build Your Kingdom Here"? I'm kind of in love with it. My kids even know the radio is going to get loud when I hear it. I have been known to ignore phone calls until the song is over. That kind of love. Yeah, I've got it bad. Plus, they're from Ireland and have some great Irish names to put into my baby-name pot.
Here's a listen if you have not heard it, or if you haven't heard it enough to love it like I do:
I love the message of this song. It gets me fired up for reaching others.
Here's the 2nd verse:
We seek Your kingdom first
We hunger and we thirst
Refuse to waste our lives
For You're our joy and prize
To see the captive hearts released
The hurt; the sick; the poor at peace
We lay down our lives for Heaven's cause
We are Your church
We pray revive
This Earth
I love those words. I love the picture "To see the captive hearts released, the hurt, the sick, the poor at peace. We lay down our lives for Heaven's cause"
God kinda took hold of me the other day on my way home. He reminded me that those people, the captive, hurt, sick, poor at peace? Those people live under my roof. Those are who I have been called to serve. Those are who I have been called to reach.
But then He went further. As He always does. He told me that I am those people. I am captive, hurt, sick, poor at peace.
I have been called to lay down my heart for His cause. Not for others, not for my family, for myself. I have to lay down my heart daily to Him. The rest will come, but it will only be genuine if I give my heart to Him every day.
That is how we serve.
We are all broken. Let's give our broken hearts to the Master so He can create His Masterpiece.
