Grand Plan Challenge - Week 8

This week's challenge - the Master Bedroom! And your printable checklist.

Get your sanctuary clean!  Make it a space of relaxation at the end of the day.

A friend told me once that she doesn't even have pictures of her children in her bedroom because in there, it wasn't about them, it was about her and her husband.  I don't go quite that far.  My husband has a baby picture of my oldest on the day we brought her home from the hospital (our 2nd anniversary!) that he adores.  And we have an u/s of our middle one that we like because it looks just like him still.  (No pictures of the baby though, I guess that's the 3rd kid for you).  I also have a lovely framed silhouette of my oldest two (pre-baby D) that my sweet friend made for me.

But every other picture is of our wedding day or our honeymoon.  Or a couple of heirloom botanical prints that I love.

I think the goal here is to make it about you and your husband.  No toys, no kids books, none of your kids' outgrown clothes...  Just your stuff.

Not that I always follow this.  Right now, our homeschool books from the last two years are in a box in our room.  As well as some random toys and lots of other junk.  This is another homeless item dumping ground.  I'm going to challenge you (and myself) to get it cleaned up so you can have your sanctuary.

This is a great room to purge, purge, purge!  So when you're going through those clothes only keep your favorites.  If you haven't worn it in a year, you won't wear it ever.  When you're putting your clothes back in your closet, turn the hangers backwards.  When you wear an item, turn the hanger the right way.  Next year, if it hasn't been turned around toss it!  No need to be sentimental, it's just clothing.  There are lots of good websites that list the foundational classic pieces you need in your wardrobe, and then each season you can just add a couple trendy pieces to keep current.  You don't need much in your closet, so stop acting like you will have to go naked if you get rid of it!  You already don't wear it!

Check in with your progress and encourage each other!
