School at Home? What's your environment?

R and I are on our '(end of) summer (beginning of fall) vacation".  It was a needed break that just happened to coincide with completing exactly 1/3 of our school year.  She was ready to enjoy playing outside all. day. long.  And I was ready to lounge around in my PJs as long as I wanted.  But, we're getting back to the grind stone in a week and a half.  And, to make things more interesting, B has decided that he's going to cut his first tooth, begin creeping, and sit on his own, all in the same week.  Mama's not ready!  Mr. P and I have talked and figured out that our current situation isn't really working for homeschool.  It's not that it's ineffective, it's just not 'right.'  I found 'the one' today though.  All my ideas and thoughts about what I wanted all wrapped up into a neat, professionally decorated package.  Although the budget doesn't allow us to finish it anytime soon, it will allow us to rearrange furniture to accomodate our plans.  We've decided that our living room is going to be repurposed as the school room.  Yes, the HUGE main room in our house will no longer house our TV and half of our furniture, but will be taken over by extra dining room chairs, a work desk, R's personal desk, and lots of storage.  Scary? A little.  A BIG step?  You betcha.  I've decided that our priorities are defined first, by what we spend our money on; second, by what we spend our time on; and third by what is in the living room.  And since we spend a lot of time in this room on things that don't really matter, I'm changing that.  The TV and side chairs are moving to the den (along with another couch eventually).  This will make the den a true 'play' room with all of R's toys, and entertainment for the family.  B will only be allowed in there when we're all in there and the new school room will be much easier to baby-proof for my almost newly-mobile little man.
Home learning will not be on a schedule, but will be an atmosphere in our house. Curiosity will bloom and be satiated.  Creativity will flourish.  A lot of dreams for a single room, but I'm allowed to have dreams for our new 'Life' room.
