Dreams

I don't know what got me started on it, but I started remembering what I used to want to be when I grew up.  You know, the dreams of an fresh-faced elementary kid who has no idea about the realities of the world.  This was my list (and I'm sure my Dad could fill in a few more):

Teacher
Artist
Elephant Trainer

Yes, you read that last one right.  Now, being an idealist, I was certain I could maintain all of these dream jobs at the same time.  Life goes on, and I had loftier goals of being in the medical profession, which obviously didn't work out in a professional sense.
But here's the ultimate irony.  I am a teacher.  We just completed our 8th week of official homeschool.  My daughter has learned about things on 6 of the 7 continents, and has learned where countries are that I didn't know until high school.  She can read very well and she has memorized 8 Bible verses.
I'm also in the medical field as the family/farm nurse/vet.  I do all the research for potential illnesses, run everyone to the doctor if need be, stay up all night with cold wash cloths, run warm baths, administer medicines, research vet stuff for the goats, administer shots, neuter our baby boy goats, administer worming meds, etc.  That's all part of the job description of being a mom and farm manager.
I'm an artist.  Not like I thought I would be.  I love drawing and painting, unfortunately God did not bless me in that area.  But I'm pretty darn gifted with the digital scrapbooking.  I really enjoy it and could do it all day if my kids let me...

Now, the elephant trainer.  I have decided that some day I will get up close and personal with an elephant.  I don't think I'll be doing the training, but if I could get that elephant to do just one trick for me, I would die a happy woman.  So it's been added to the bucket list.  And if it never happens, I'll probably still die a happy woman...  But I really want to do it.  Like really, really want to do it.

So, what's on your bucket list?
