Controversial

This might surprise some of you, well, probably none of you.  But I'll say it anyways.  I don't trust the government or any large corporation.  At all.  Any claims they make, I automatically discount to their vested interest.  I'm a fairly educated individual, but to some I might seem paranoid in the things I don't trust.
And since my well being is not based on what you all think of my opinions, I'm going to post one of my more controversial opinions.  A good friend of mine suggested that I put it out there and although I have no expertise or research to back it up, I feel it is a valid opinion, grounded in scientific data.  I don't like scare tactics and I don't like extremists.  Both use emotion to get us to go their way, and I don't like my emotions played with.  I have a hard enough time controlling them myself, I don't need anyone else to screw with them.  So here it is.
I was secretly glad when they announced this week (though I'm not exactly sure how long the news has been out) that the studies done to 'prove' vaccines cause autism were extremely faulty.  The science was cooked.  Now, I will go ahead and give my disclaimer.  I DON'T know if it's actually true or not.  But I don't appreciate either side telling me that I have to choose.  One side is saying that I'll kill my child if I don't give them these shots - which do prevent a myriad of horrible, potentially life-threatening diseases.  The other is saying that I'm killing my child by giving them to her.  Is there absolutely no other explanation, at all of the increase in autism?  Has our lifestyles not changed at all since more vaccines were being introduced?  I know for a fact that processed foods, chemically altered foots, genetically modified foods, chemical-laden beauty products have taken over our lifestyles.  And I have done a lot of research into those things.  Do those have no effect on our bodies and our children?  I'm not convinced that they don't.  This is just my personal take.  Again, I have absolutely no research or data to back me up.
Why are we worrying about the tiny amount of toxins in that shot but could care less about the pounds and pounds of horrible stuff we put in our bodies every day?
That lip balm you use is a petroleum by-product - left over from when they made the gas to put in your car.  I don't care to eat that stuff.  Who knows what kind of effect it's having on me, long term.  It doesn't make me sick now, but what about later?  And genetically modified foods?  Don't get me started, but they've figured out that adding a bacterial gene to a plant cell causes proteins to fold differently.  When proteins fold differently they don't bind properly.  When they don't bind properly, all kinds of things are thrown out of whack.  They've shown that one misfolded protein is what causes Mad Cow Disease.  Is that really the kind of stuff you want to ingest?  Chemically altered foods are no better, although the damage isn't on the genetic level, but it's not like you can just wash the stuff off.  And all those chemicals in your lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shaving gel, toothpaste, deodorant, etc are being jammed into your pores day after day after day.
I have decided that the risk to my child is much greater to contract one of these deadly diseases.  There isn't enough research yet to prove that these toxins in the vaccines are doing anything.  If there ever is enough evidence, I will not vaccinate my child.  I choose to not put my child at risk.  And that means in her entire life. We're phasing out beauty products one at a time, we're eating more 'from scratch' food with as few processed items as possible.  We just bought dairy goats so we can wean ourselves (pardon the pun) off of antibiotic-laden store milk.  It's an entire lifestyle.  It's not convenient.  Ask me how much I like doing things from scratch when Daddy tells me that he's out of bread, face toner, and jam Sunday night.  Daddy and I get allergy shots, which are not drugs, it's training our bodies to not react so we don't need allergy meds every day.  We also visit the chiropractor as often as we can get there.  Keeping our spine healthy keeps all of us healthy (even R, who got sick for the first time in a year last week, and not just serious sick, sick at all).  It's a lot of work and planning ahead.  But we've chosen to remove as many of the 'junk' items as we can so we can live healthier lives.
That is my choice.  I respect others' choices no matter which way they choose.  I actually do see both sides.  I just see that the problem is a lot bigger than vaccines.  But vaccines are once a year, if that, things that people are wanting to be the miracle cure for autism.  If that is all it takes to get rid of autism, Praise God!  But what if it's something bigger?  Something that isn't as convenient?  Would people be as willing to give up their cheap milk?  Their shiny hair shampoo?  Even their lip balm?  You start hitting people a little more where it hurts with that scenario and I don't think people are willing to put in the work involved.  Are people willing to stand up to agro-corporations and demand that there be labels on genetically modified food?  And that the ingredients in food not be chemically altered?  Are they willing to boycott such convenient products?  I've gone so far to say that we won't buy produce grown outside of this country (if at all possible).  That means no bananas.  Or Kiwi (Daddy's favorite). It sucks. Point blank. Several days this week I considered giving someone else's pinky for a banana.  But, the farther produce travels, the lower the quality.  And if I'm buying produce, which is supposed to be good for me, it better have all the nutrients and flavor it's supposed to have.  Did you know that a tomato picked 1-2 weeks early, then reddened in a warehouse has less than half the nutrient value of a ripe tomato?  Produce, once picked, can't make more nutrients.  So why should I buy it?  Why not buy it in season when it didn't come from half a world away?  But that's an argument for another post.  So, those are my thoughts.  Enjoy, muse, and then go about your lives.
