Great Fall Dessert.... YUMMY!

I'm not a big apple pie person. I really don't like applesauce even. I will eat some Granny Smith apples with a little caramel every once in a while. I should say, normally. Being pregnant, every time I go to the produce section, I smell those yummy apples and need to eat apples with caramel! In fact, I made an apple crisp yesterday that is just to DIE for! So I thought I'd share the recipe for those of you that do like apple pie on a normal basis... :)
This is courtesy of Betty Crocker:
4 medium tart cooking apples, sliced (about 16 slices per apple) (4 cups) - Golden or Red Delicious are best
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup oats
1/3 cup butter, softened
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Cream or ice cream, if desired

1. Heat oven to 375F. Grease bottom and sides of 8-inch square pan with shortening. (I used one of those oval baking dishes and it worked great)
2. Spread apples in pan. In medium bowl, stir brown sugar, flour, oats, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg together until well mixed; sprinkle over apples
3. Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm with cream.

After polishing off the last of it this morning, I can definitely say this is an awesome recipe!
